Description
Description
The Japanese Fukura-Suzume refers to a "puffed-up sparrow", a long-standing symbol for fortune and good luck in traditional Japanese culture. Marumitsu's Fukurasuzume bowls take inspiration from this traditional motif, mimicking the feathers of a sparrow through curved relief lines hand-carved on the interior and exterior of the bowl. A proprietary glazing technique leaves a dynamic, almost translucent purple finish, highlighting the engravings and creating subtle contrast. Meant to be used as a daily vessel, the Fukurasuzume bowl is perfect for cereal, soups, ice cream, or anything else you can think to use a bowl for.

A Note On Handmade
A Note On Handmade
Due to the handcrafted nature of clay and hand-glazed pieces, variations may occur from piece to piece. Slight color variations and small imperfections such as tiny specks, pinholes, or the occasional glaze drip on the underside of the product are not considered defects but rather characteristics of each item’s unique handcrafted nature.
